HOUSEHOLD TRASH GUIDELINES
AUTOMATED TRASH COLLECTION

Place your cart out for collection after 4:00PM the day before and by 6:00AM the day of your scheduled service. The handle of the cart MUST face your home and the white arrows on the side of the cart MUST point towards the street. The container must have a 4-foot clearance around it to be picked up in a safe and proper manner. The truck driver will pick up only the cart. DO NOT PLACE THE CART NEAR RECYCLABLES, MAILBOXES, PARKED CARS, UTILITY POLES, TREES/BRUSH OR OTHER ITEMS THAT PREVENT CLEAR ACCESS TO THE CART.

Your collection cart is for the disposal of only regular household trash. Please seal food waste in plastic bags to help prevent odors and insect pests. Pet owners should double seal animal waste and cat litter in plastic bags.

(A) BULK PICK UP

This pick up is done once (1) a month. Bulk trash will be picked up on the third (3rd) full workweek of every month on your scheduled trash day. (The first full week is the week that includes a Monday.) Bulk trash is furniture, mattresses, carpet etc.

2005 DATES: (JAN. 17-21, FEB. 21-25, MAR. 21-25, APRIL 18-22, MAY 16-20, JUNE 20-24, JULY 18-22, AUGUST 15-19, SEPT. 19-23, OCT. 17-21, NOV. 21-25, DEC. 19-23, 2005)

(B) CART CARE

Regular trash cans cannot be used with this new system. The cart that is issued is the only container that may be used for household waste. The container is designed to hold one week's worth of trash from a family of six who actively recycle. The cart is the property of Voorhees Township and all carts will have a serial number registered by address. The home owner is responsible for the cart. If you move the cart must stay. If you need a replacement cart or additional cart call the Public Works Department.

(C) INCLEMENT WEATHER

During heavy snowfalls necessitating snowplowing, your cart should be placed behind the curb, but not in the street, with the arrows facing the street. The edge of your driveway apron, facing the street, might be a preferable location.

(D) LEAF COLLECTION

During the spring and fall leaf collection, place your cart on a flat surface behind your row of leaves.
