RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Single Stream

Recycling of glass/cans/plastics, paper and cardboard properly can save the Township, and ultimately, the taxpayer, valuable dollars. Contaminating your recycling container with non-recyclable items limits the Township’s ability to look for disposal companies with the lowest cost per ton.

1) Used metal cans; used glass, such as glass bottles, jars and containers (except blue glass and flat commonly known as window glass); and used plastic bottles and containers, such as soap, soda, milk, pet, soup, shall be separated from other solid waste, cleaned and drained free of all food and liquid or other substances and placed into a reusable hard plastic or metal recycling receptacle or container, not less in size than five gallons or more than 32 gallons. Metal cans and used glass and plastics shall not be placed in plastic bags for collection. The lids to these containers can go in the trash.

2) The hard plastic receptacle for glass, cans, plastics and paper shall be placed between the curb and sidewalk in front of the residence in a reasonably secure manner for collection by the Township or its authorized agent not sooner than 4PM the day before and by 6AM the day of your scheduled pick up.

3) All disposable containers made and fabricated primarily of plastic, and having imprinted on them a recycling code / icon of 1 or 2.

4) Loose paper (newspapers, magazines, junkmail, cardboard, milk cartons, juice box cartons, pizza boxes, cereal boxes, wrapping paper, etc.) shall be secured in paper bags or tied and mixed with your glass, cans and plastic in the recycling container. Cardboard (loose) should be secured and placed next to the recycling container, free from all debris. In no event shall plastic or waxed paper be included, nor shall plastic bags be utilized to place such paper for collection.
