Public Works
AUTOMATED TRASH COLLECTION GUIDELINES
Please place your cart out for collection after 4:00 PM, the day
before, and by 6:00 AM, the day of, your scheduled service. The handle
of the cart MUST face your home and the white arrows
on the side of the cart MUST point towards the
street. THE TRASH CART MUST HAVE A 4-FOOT CLEARANCE AROUND IT TO BE
PICKED UP IN A SAFE AND PROPER MANNER. DO NOT PLACE THE CART NEAR RECYCLABLES,
MAILBOXES, PARKED CARS, UTILITY POLES, TREES/BRUSH OR OTHER ITEMS THAT PREVENT
CLEAR ACCESS TO THE CART. (REFER TO PHOTO ONPAGE 7 OF THE INFORMATION PAMPHLET.)
The truck driver will pick up only the cart.
Where do I place my cart on collection day?
Upon delivery, your cart will be placed in the area of your weekly
collection. Please refer to the Automated Trash Collection System
Pamphlet that will come with your cart for areas not to place the
cart.
Can the cart roll on stone driveways /
walkways?
Yes. The large wheels allow for easy moving over rough surfaces.
May I still use my old cans for trash
collection?
No. This system requires specific carts for collection. However, this
is an opportune time to utilize your old trashcans for Monday’s
vegetation collection of grass, twigs and leaves.
Will this new system affect the way I
recycle?
No. Continue to use your yellow recycling bucket for plastic and
glass. Place the recycling bucket next to the cart, with a 4-foot
clearance. Place your paper recycling next to your yellow
bucket.
May I place unbagged / loose trash in the new
cart?
No. This will only invite insect and odor problems. Please continue to
bag and seal garbage properly and place it in the cart.
May grass and leaves be placed in the cart?
No. These items will continue to be recycled on Mondays, township
wide. These items are not to be considered trash, but your old
trashcans may be used for Monday’s collection.
May I place hazardous waste materials in the
cart?
No. Check the Hazardous Waste list on the web site for items that
cannot go in the trash cart or call the Public Works Department
at 856-428-5499.
May bulk items be placed at the curb on collection
day?
No. The bulk item (furniture, mattresses, carpet, etc.) pickup
collection schedule is listed in the Automated Trash Collection System
Pamphlet.
May white goods/metal be placed at the curb on collection
day?
Yes, these items may go out on your scheduled collection day. (Stoves,
refrigerators, etc.)
PLEASE NOTE:
You do not need to wait for bulk trash day to put out your white goods
/ metal. Once these item(s) are at the curbline, call 856-428-5499
for a scheduled pickup.
** REMEMBER TO REMOVE REFRIGERATOR & FREEZER DOORS
**
What if the number of trash bags will not fit in the cart
provided?
This program is designed for a family of six (6) who actively recycle.
Should you still need more room, contact the Public Works Department
for an additional cart. The cost is $55.00 for a 95-gallon cart
and $50.00 for 65-gallon cart. Please note that each residence is limited
to a total combination of one 95-gallon cart and one 65-gallon cart or
two 95-gallon carts.
Is a second or smaller cart available?
Yes. Contact the Public Works Department at 856-428-5499.
Please note that each residence is limited to a total
combination of one 95-gallon cart and one 65-gallon cart or two
95-gallon carts.
Where do I place my cart during leaf and snow
season?
Please refer to the pamphlet.
During leaf season, place your cart behind your leaf pile (close to
your curbside).
During snow season, place your cart in your shoveled driveway apron or
a shoveled area next to your driveway apron. Be sure to leave a
4-foot clearance around the cart. However, prior to
snowplowing do not place the cart in the street. This
will interfere with snowplowing.
What if street parking is the only option in my
development? Where do I place my cart?
Place the cart in an area that will have a 4-foot clearance.
Is this new program township wide?
Not initially, other communities will be added as time progresses.
Should you have other questions, please wait until your cart
and information booklet have been delivered.
