Mayor’s Column

In light of the ongoing corona-virus pandemic, Governor Phil Murphy, per Executive Orders 105120 and 144, has made significant changes relative to the manner in which the 2020 Primary Election will be conducted.

The revised date of the Primary Election is July 7, 2020.

All active Democrats and Republicans were automatically sent vote by mail ballots. Unaffiliated voters and inactive voters were mailed vote by mail applications on or about June 18, which must be completed and returned if you wish to get a vote by mail ballot. You may apply for a mail-in ballot by mail up to seven days prior to the election. You may also apply in person to the County Clerk prior to 8 p.m. on the day of the election.

Vote by mail ballots are postage prepaid and can be returned to any US Post Office or simply put in in your mailbox. Ballots postmarked on or before July 7 will be counted as long as they are received by July 14. Ballots can be dropped off at the Camden County Board of Elections, 100 University Ct., Blackwood. There are also secure drop off boxes located throughout Camden County and their locations can be found at www.camdencounty.com/vbmdropbox. If someone else transports your ballot, they must complete the “Bearer” portion of the green return envelope. Vote by mail ballots cannot he dropped off at the polling locations.

If you choose to vote in person, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, this year in the Primary Election there will be a reduced number of polling locations. A card listing your polling place will be sent to you in the mail prior to the election. Due to the coronavirus, Voorhees Township altered our polling locations for this Primary Election and they are as follows:

District 1                                              Ashland Presbyterian Church– 33 E. Evesham Road
