Voorhees Saves Lives

Mayor’s Column for Nov. 27 Submission – In 2015, Voorhees Township initiated the “Voorhees Saves Lives Program” to reduce drunk driving and protect our community.

The program provides free rides home to Voorhees residents from any participating restaurant or bar in Voorhees and the ChopHouse in Gibbsboro. Voorhees and Uber are working together to reduce alcohol related car incidents. Residents should have an active Uber account to receive the voucher. In any participating restaurant, scan the below QR code with your phone camera, click on the yellow uber.com symbol that pops up and follow the prompts.

The free service will not be provided from one establishment to another but only from the establishment to home. The program is available every day from 9pm to 2am. Voorhees Saves Lives has a limit of two free trips per month with a maximum fare of $15 and tips are not included.

No tax dollars are used for this program. It is fully funded through the Voorhees Citizens Event Foundation, Dooney’s Pub, Iron Hill Brewery, The Library II Restaurant, Ott’s Tavern and The ChopHouse. Please support these establishments. The holiday season is here, so please consider using this program. If the program saves one life, it is well worth it!
