Since 2002, the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary Club has been committed to serving our town, the South Jersey region and the world. Its members meet weekly on Thursday mornings to plan projects and activities which help meet community needs and solve problems.
Rotary International is the oldest charitable service organization in the world and addresses such issues as hunger, ignorance and child mortality. There are more than 1.2 million Rotarians all over the world with more than 35,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 200 countries. The Rotary Foundation is one of the world’s largest and has consistently had one of the highest ratings in Charity Navigator. Since the 1980’s, the Foundation and volunteers worldwide have spearheaded the effort to eradicate polio.
In partnership with Hope Church and the Cathedral Kitchen, Voorhees Rotarians are helping meet the needs of those in our area in need of food. Members regularly prepare meals for hospitalized children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House in Camden. In our grade schools, they purchase and organize delivery of healthy snacks, so our children’s learning is not impaired. They support the efforts of the “Josh the Otter Water Safety Project” to help prevent child drownings, one of the leading causes of death of youngsters.
The Club’s members come from all walks of life and range in age from 39 to 93. They are a diverse, energetic and fun group. The members include two past Rotary District Governors and two current Assistant Governors, helping lead the Rotary District (7505) which covers southern and most of central New Jersey. The club meets every Thursday at 7:30am, alternating between on-line zoom meetings and in person meetings at the Stratford Diner at 19 S. White Horse Pike.
The Club is hosting several fun events. On Saturday, July 26, there is a bus trip to Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees play the Phillies. The bus leaves at 9:00 from AAA Voorhees. On Saturday, Sept. 27, the Club is hosting its Annual Trivia Night at Lions Lake Park at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $45 and include light refreshments, prizes, basket auctions and of course, trivia! Contact Roger Leonard at raljr@log-insuarnce.om or 856-627-2600.
The Club is hosting a Voorhees Community Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10am to 2pm in the Voorhees Town Center parking lot. All residents are welcome to participate. ** Summer hours for the Voorhees Township Town Hall will be in effect until Tuesday, Sept. 2. The Township offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5:30pm and will be closed on Friday.
**The second show of the traditional Voorhees Township 2025 Summer Concert Series at Connolly Park is on Thursday, July 17 at 7pm, featuring Tramps Like Us, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. On Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7pm The Beat Tells will entertain the audience with their Tribute to the Beatles. The shows will be even more enjoyable with Dooney’s Pub mobile bar and a variety of food trucks. ** Voorhees Township is once again partnering with Morey’s Piers to offer discounted tickets for their amusement piers located on the Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. Tickets may be obtained in person from the office of the Voorhees Township Clerk (856) 429-7757 and are payable by CASH ONLY. Tickets are available to residents and non-residents. Office hours now until Thursday, Aug. 28: Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 5:30pm.
