Voorhees Theatre Company

The Voorhees Theatre Company (VTC) is a non-profit community theatre based at the Raymond J. Brosel Performing Arts Center at Voorhees Middle School.  VTC’s mission is to offer performance and educational opportunities to artists on stage and behind the scenes and to bring audiences professional-caliber performances within and beyond the walls of the theater.  VTC is well known for educating and nurturing young performers and for offering performance and theatre opportunities to local artists of all ages. VTC offers a safe harbor to all participants who want to explore the arts.

Since forming in 2002, VTC has staged a wide variety of productions, including Peter Pan, Footloose, Little Shop of Horrors, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mary Poppins, Godspell, The Music Man, The Wedding Singer, The Little Mermaid., Into the Woods, Seussical, Legally Blonde, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and Grease.

VTC offers a highly successful Summer Theatre Camp and produces two main stage productions each year: a summer musical for performers in high school and older, and a fall musical featuring performers ages 8 and older.

This fall’s production is the beloved Broadway classic, Annie. Based on the popular comic strip, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Tomorrow.”

Auditions for Annie take place Thursday, Sept. 4, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Callbacks, by invitation only, take place Friday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m., and rehearsals begin Sunday, Sept. 7. Performers ages 8 and older are invited to audition and should come dressed to dance and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from the show or a song of their choice that displays vocal range and ability. No accompanist will be provided; performers should bring a downloaded digital instrumental accompaniment. Visit the VTC website, voorheestheatre.org, to obtain an audition form and additional information. A non-refundable $25 audition fee, payable by cash, check or Venmo, will be assessed; a $125 costume/production fee will be collected from all cast members by Sept. 15.

Annie will be performed four times: Thurs., Oct. 30 at 7:30 pm; Sat., Nov. 1 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm; and Sun., Nov. 2 at 2:00 pm.
