Mayor’s Column

For the past four years, the Voorhees Town Center has been the home of the Voorhees Art Center and Gallery. The Center grew, even during the pandemic, offering more exhibits, classes, events and other opportunities for artists to showcase their talents and learn.

While many of the faces of the Art Center remain the same, the idea and mission grew.

This year, the Township Committee created the Voorhees Arts Commission. The officers are Marianne Leone (Chair), Natalie Illiano (Vice Chair/Treasurer), Liz Horvitz (Secretary), Kamal Khatiwala and Renee DeSantis.  The mission is to provide support for artists, art students and art lovers alike in fine arts, performing arts, music and more.  The Commission has already approved various fine arts and visual arts programs at the Center such as miniature painting class and water-color classes, as well as the return of the popular kids’ camp.  The Commission is also planning exciting performing arts programs for this fall and the holiday season.

The Commission will celebrate its creation and the 4th Anniversary of the Gallery and Center by hosting an Art Center Birthday Bash and Arts Celebration on Wednesday, June 29 at 6pm in the Town Center Food Court.

Join this free event to support local artists, enjoy light refreshments, performances by our local theatre chorus, dance, music and also family/kid friendly art projects and face painting.  Enjoy the work of local visual artists and learn about their journey.  Also enjoy a virtual museum presentation. Celebrate the arts and this milestone and learn more about upcoming programs!

The arts are alive and well in Voorhees Township!
