The 10-year-old Voorhees Township Shop Voorhees! Property Tax Reward Program! offered to residents and small businesses just got a new punch!
The program encourages Voorhees residents to shop locally and allows a portion of your normal purchasing dollars spent on goods and services in Voorhees to be applied to your property tax bill, thereby reducing your taxes at the end of the tax year. The more you shop in Voorhees, the more you save.
To boost merchants’ participation, our Economic Development Department team, in partnership with volunteers from the Economic Development Committee, developed additional incentives and will now offer local merchants who join the program a 60-second promotional video. The video is your business introduction and will be promoted on our Shop Voorhees Facebook and Voorhees Township YouTube pages. The Township will produce the script and will send the video crew directly to your business location. The video will be produced by the Eastern TV/Media department and will help students develop their film skills, making this a win-win initiative. It has already proven to be a success and Eastern High students showcased their first commercial shot of Wayback Burgers by a group of 10 seniors at the Eastern Board meeting in May.
Among other incentives for local merchants to join the Shop Voorhees Program is a discounted membership in the South Jersey Chamber of Commerce, a one-year free membership in the Voorhees Business Association and a chance to win the “Biz of the Quarter” award. In addition, the Economic Development Committee has developed this hyper link to the library of available resources to assist business owners in operating their businesses.

Since the program’s inception, over 5000 residents have participated with close to $2.5 million in sales and approximately $150,800 in tax savings.
Residents can register for the Shop Voorhees program at propertytaxcard.com to have their benefits applied. If you reside in an apartment, your address will be the recognizing factor for receiving a check at the end of the tax year. Shop at any participating Shop Voorhees! business. Participating businesses are identified by the “Live Voorhees, Shop Voorhees!” sticker in their window. A list is also available at propertytaxcard.com under the participating merchants tab. When checking out after shopping, your card is no longer needed. Simply present your registered phone number and the retailer will apply a percentage of your purchase to reduce your property tax bill. Each business independently establishes the percentage of your purchase that will be applied toward your tax credit.
Another convenience for our residents is the Voorhees Township App – Voorhees O-N-E, which consolidates our local O-ffers, N-ews and E-vents into a single app which can be downloaded on your smart phone. It lists all Township sponsored events as well as scheduled trash/recycling/leaf pickups. The app gives you access to special discounts through our Shop Voorhees program as well as our free Voorhees Saves Lives/Uber Rides program. It has a button to report downed trees and potholes anywhere in town and a great way to stay informed.

** Voorhees Township is offering discounted tickets for Morey’s Amusement Piers and Water Parks located on the Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. Tickets may be obtained in person from the Office of the Voorhees Township Clerk (856) 429-7757 and are payable by CASH ONLY. Tickets are available to residents and non-residents. The tickets do not expire.
