Marching Vikings

For almost 50 years, the Eastern Regional High School Marching Vikings have been a proud member of the Tournament of Bands (TOB) – one of the largest competitive organizations for performing arts in the nation. I am proud of their legacy and the contributions that the Marching Vikings have made to our community and to Eastern. The band entertains us every year at the Kirkwood Memorial Day Parade.

At the 2023 Tournament of Bands outdoor season, the Marching Vikings went undefeated for the entire competitive season and finished the season with the highest overall score in the Tournament of Bands, which included 134 teams from 11 regions across New Jersey, Metro NYC, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.

The Marching Vikings continued to excel in the championship tournaments – taking first place in each tournament.  The Marching Vikings are proud to be the 2023 Region 1 Champions and the 2023 New Jersey State Champions.   The apex of this winning season occurred on Nov. 5 as the Marching Vikings were victorious at the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in Hershey, PA.  Their first-place finish included the highest score in the ACC Championship, as well as awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Percussion and Best Auxiliary.

The Marching Vikings production of “Shattered” directed by Mr. John Stanz and a dedicated staff of coaches deserves special recognition.  The band worked very hard throughout the season, practicing almost 15 hours each week and performing at every home football game as well as the competitions.
