Automated Trash Collection is trash picked up by the automated trucks using the mechanical arm. Residents with this type of collection service utilize the Township issued BLUE TRASH CARTS.
Place your cart out for collection, after 4:00 PM the day before and by 6:00 AM the day of, your scheduled service. The handle of the cart MUST face your home, and the white arrows on the side of the cart MUST point towards the street. The container must have a 4-foot clearance around it to be picked up in a safe and proper manner. The truck driver will pick up only the cart.
DO NOT PLACE THE CART NEAR RECYCLABLES, MAILBOXES, PARKED CARS, UTILITY POLES, TREES/BRUSH OR OTHER ITEMS THAT PREVENT CLEAR ACCESS TO THE CART.
Your collection cart is for the disposal of regular household trash only. Please seal food waste in plastic bags to help prevent odors, insects and other animals from accessing the trash. Pet owners should double seal animal waste and cat litter in plastic bags.
(A) CART CARE Regular trash cans cannot be used with this new system. The cart that is issued is the only container that may be used for household waste. The container is designed to hold one week’s worth of trash from a family of six who actively recycle. The cart is the property of Voorhees Township and all carts will have a serial number registered by address. The homeowner is responsible for the cart. If you move, the cart must stay. If you need an additional cart, call the tax collector at (856) 429 – 7762 to purchase one.
(B) INCLEMENT WEATHER During heavy snowfalls, which require snowplowing, your cart should be placed behind the curb, (but not in the street,) with the arrows facing the street. The edge of your driveway apron, facing the street, might be a preferable location.
(C) LEAF COLLECTION During the spring and fall leaf collection, place your cart on a flat surface behind your row of leaves.
